This presentation examines how alternative assessment procedures impact learner engagement and academic performance in Colombian EFL classrooms. Based on recent research, it highlights how non-traditional assessments enhance motivation, participation, and learning outcomes while addressing challenges and implications for teaching practices and policy.

Eduar holds a BA in English and Spanish and an MA in Teaching English and Spanish as Foreign Languages from the University of Nariño.
He currently works as a professor in the Department of Linguistics and Languages of the University of Nariño. Moreover, he worked as an English teacher at Mariana University and CESMAG University in Pasto, Colombia, and has trained public school teachers in Nariño and Putumayo.
